The Minister for Sport and Civil Society will join more than 100 chief executives and leaders of Sport for Development Coalition member organisations as they discuss sport’s role as a ‘team player’ in levelling up communities at the Coalition’s inaugural CEO Forum on November 3rd.
- Keynote speakers now confirmed include the Minister, Nigel Huddleston, and Sport England CEO Tim Hollingsworth, who will highlight how the funding body’s ‘Uniting the Movement’ strategy supports important social outcomes such as physical and mental wellbeing, and community cohesion through sport and physical activity.
- Aleema Shivji, Executive Director of Impact and Investment for Comic Relief, and Masha Gloukhovski, Managing Director at JP Morgan, will provide valuable insight on resourcing sport and social impact in a post-Covid landscape.
- Leading CEOs from across the Coalition including Mark Lawrie (StreetGames), Nicola Walker (Sported), Jenny Oklikah (Fight for Peace) and Nigel Harrison (Active Partnerships) will help to facilitate discussions on strengthening collective action and coherent messaging on sport for development and levelling up.
- Sophie Mason, CEO of Coalition partner Made By Sport, will support discussions on scaling up investment through joined-up approaches, while founders and chief executives of the Upshot, Views, State of Life and Data Hub systems will be part of the CEO-led conversations on 'putting data to work for sport for development'.
The Coalition’s inaugural CEO Forum, which is being held at the home of London-based charity Greenhouse Sports, will provide an opportunity for sector leaders to review and set priorities for their collective action as they seek to enable sport for development to realise its potential in a post-Covid world.
In particular the event will analyse the Government’s Levelling Up agenda and assess how sport-based interventions can better support the core objectives of this central policy priority, to improve livelihoods and level up opportunities across all parts of the UK.
The Forum will also consider in detail opportunities to enhance collective messaging on the role of sport for development in levelling up, and how the Coalition can collaborate more effectively on efforts to mobilise resources, including specific asks and offers made in the Coalition's submission to the Government's Spending Review.
The Coalition is a collective of more than 200 organisations and networks over-arching thousands of projects and programmes across the UK which intentionally use sport and physical activity to generate positive social outcomes.
